…And that bitch runs the house.
So you’re an online marketer with a website and you want to know why it’s important to have good content.
Well the answer is, because it is.
Your content is the backbone of your website, and without it, you won’t be able to do things like engage your customers, attract organic search traffic or build your business.
Having said that, marketing is what rules it all. But since you’re already reading this blog, then I know that you’re aware of that 😉
What’s more, we call ourselves Internet marketers, not Internet contenters. Lol. Contenters. Anyway…
Every website is made out of three main components:
– Graphics/Design
– URL/Hosting
– And Content.
And unfortunately, one mistake a lot of people make is that they put all their effort into their website design, and content takes a backseat. It should be the other way around.
Here are 5 reasons why:
1. Communication
Your content serves the important purpose of informing people what you, your business and your website are all about.
Without content, people won’t have any idea who you are, what you do, or what the main message of your website is. Nobody’s going to know anything, in fact, and if you have content but it’s not good content, they still won’t be able to know what you’re trying to tell them.
And your call to action – if you don’t make it clear, your customers won’t know what you want them to do. Do you want them to buy your product, leave feedback, or visit another page to find out more information?
Your message is part of your content, and it needs to be clear.
2. Search engine results
If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of a G-slap (damn that sounds kinky), then you’ll already be aware that Google results are content driven.
When people search for certain keywords, Google provides them with a list of sites that have information that is relevant to the words that were searched for.
No search engine is going to provide a list of results based on how the site is designed.
In your site content, you need to use keywords related to your niche and make sure your content has plenty of relevant information.
That’s how you’ll be able to drive more traffic to your site.
3. Engaging your readers
Quality content will attract people’s attention and capture their interest, and it will keep people coming back to your website.
Provide useful content that your visitors will find valuable.
For example, people will be more likely to buy from you if you help them solve their problems, or give them good advice that is relevant to their needs.
4. Inbound links
If your content is fresh, unique, new, witty or even controversial, it will attract the attention of others. If it’s good enough, people might start talking or writing about you and linking back to your content, whether it’s a video, or article, or something.
This will help you boost your search ranking, as well as bring in new traffic when people follow other people’s links back to your site or your content.
5. Make sales
If your content isn’t good, chances are you have a lower chance to convert others to buy your products or check out your offers.
For internet marketers, this isn’t a good thing.
So keep in mind that great content is the first step for a sale.
Also, quality content will make you look professional and more reputable and trustworthy, which also encourages more conversions and sales.
