It’s difficult to start an online business and persuade people to make purchases through you when you’re a brand newbie.
I know, I’ve been there.
The Internet is prime location for scams, so you certainly can’t blame consumers for having doubts when they come across a sales page or affiliate offer that isn’t backed by a well-known authority.
When you’re the new kid on the block, trust between your customer and yourself is one of the biggest issues.
You’ve got all these great products lined-up but without credibility it’s going to be an uphill struggle making that sale.
So here are 8 tips to help you gain credibility and increase conversions:
1. Write A Blog
Nothing says credibility more than a blog.
By documenting your journey and consistently giving out tips to help others, people will eventually come to you for your recommendations.
Although time-consuming to many, keeping an updated blog is one of the most effective ways to distinguish you as a credible source.
You create a growing fan base of readers who will be loyal to your brand.
2. Create A Strong Background Page
One of the first things I teach my students at Internet Income Intensive is how to write up their “About” section on their website.
Many people are particular about who they purchase from online and like to research on the product and seller first.
By creating a strong background page that provides details about who you are and what you’re all about, you have a better chance of gaining their trust.
Take my website here for example, I’ve allocated one page in particular just to tell visitors about my story and how I started venturing into Internet Marketing.
Take a look at my ‘About’ page and see how I do it. It’s that easy.
3. Add Social Proof
If you’ve done business before, you should collect testimonials from previous buyers.
Just a simple one-lined statement will do.
People can say just about anything about themselves, but it’s only when others back them up that it holds any form of credibility.
Aside from testimonials, you could add screenshots of earnings, awards, any press or media coverage you may have received and even images that showcase your message.
For example, if you’re selling a weight loss product, add before and after images. If you’re selling an Internet marketing product, you could shoot a video of yourself in your luxury car or mansion.
You get my drift.
4. Write A Believable Sales Letter
Don’t hard sell your product in the sales letter.
I keep telling people this.
You don’t like having people ‘force’ you into buying something right?
It makes the product looks cheap and you, desperate.
Instead, construct the letter carefully like a finely written story so that your readers would be drawn into buying the benefits, not the features.
Write about the problems and how you can solve them.
5. Avoid Cheap Designs
In terms of graphics and layouts, avoid cheap looking designs.
Unless you’re a graphic designer yourself, don’t try to figure out how Photoshop works.
Go for simple, themed designs instead of combining all your ideas into one massive uncoordinated piece that will just scare your potential buyers away.
Be simple but be attractive.
6. Provide Contact Details
Allow people to contact you.
It could be through email, Facebook, Twitter or even your phone number.
By opening up a two-way communication channel, it offers transparency and gives your customers the feeling of a safety net.
Does that make sense?
Give potential buyers and existing customers the assurance that they can come back to you at any point of time for help and assistance.
This way you’ll create a very strong image of putting your customers’ welfare first.
Which you should be doing all the time anyway.
If people don’t think they can reach you, they won’t even bother to buy your product in the first place.
Giving them a way to contact you in case of anything is a huge sign of trustworthiness.
It shows you’re not about to skip town once the purchase is made.
7. Record a self-appearance video
When you create a review video or sales video, try using your own voice or even better record yourself in it.
I used to be very self-conscious front of a camera. But when I stepped up and started creating videos of myself speaking, it did wonders to my credibility and conversions.
Videos are great for a number of reasons.
One being that it carries a much more personal approach and allows viewers to connect with you as a person.
When they see a human face speaking to them, it’s naturally more powerful than reading blind copy on a website.
8. Legit Email & Domain
This is crucial. You can’t expect people to believe in you or your product if you’re using a dodgy email address and a domain that is not fully yours.
For example using an email like [email protected] and a domain address like buymyproducts.wordpress.com.
Scammy.
Purchase your own domain people.
And pay for your own hosting too.
Just create a professional domain name with a legit email address to go with it. Avoid putting numbers in your email address.
You have to spend a little money for a domain but it makes a huge difference in the amount of sales you might miss out on.
