If you really want to make money online you have to create your own product.
As my friend and founder of Big Idea Mastermind Vick Strizheus says:
The ideal position you want to be in (as an internet marketer) is to have your own product which you created, or at least a product which you can make 100% commissions off.
I know, it’s not as easy as it sounds.
So here are just a 5 tips to help you get started:
1. Find a niche you’re passionate about
…and create a product within that niche.
Back when I started, I didn’t know much about anything except for the game, World of Warcraft. So I penned a guide for it.
Long story short, that was how I first started making money online.
It’s tempting to create a product for a niche that has a wide audience, but to begin with it would be easier if you choose a niche that you’re passionate about and familiar with.
You’ll cut down on time that would otherwise be spent on researching your niche and product, which you can invest into making a good product.
2. Do your research
Once you have your niche, research.
Make use of Google Keyword Tool and Google Traffic Estimator to check the profitability of your niche.
Look at your competition. Check out their products.
In fact, go ahead and purchase the best-selling ones.
This is a great way to look through their sales page, sales funnel and the product itself.
That way you know exactly what you’re up against and how you can deliver even more value in your product.
For example, if you’re writing a game guide but that particular game already has an abundance of guides, think about writing a more specialized guide, for example, one that focuses on attack strategies or how to beat a certain level.
3. Creating your product
Now you should have an idea of what product you’re going to create, it’s time to start creating.
You can gather free information and compile it into your product.
I’ve written a game guide, and I did my research. I read what others have already written about the game and gathered information from as many free sources as possible before starting to write my own guide.
I’m not saying to steal from others, but do your research, and aim to create something better than what’s currently available.
4. Don’t try to do everything by yourself
When creating your product, first do what you can on your own.
If you’re going to make videos, then start recording and try to get them done as soon as possible.
Most of the products you’re going to create will probably take 24 hours to outline and draft out.
But you might not know how to do everything, or you might not have the time.
That’s okay.
Outsource.
If you don’t know how to design, hire a designer.
If you need help editing your videos, hire a video editor.
If you need help writing content, hire a writer.
Sign up for Elance.com and post up your job description.
Don’t waste your time trying to learn how to use photoshop.
Leverage off others and hire people who know what they’re doing.
5. Target your audience
Know your audience and the segment that you are targeting.
Some people are okay with spending their time searching online for free information.
Others prefer to pay to get the information they want immediately (or for better information that can’t be found for free).
Obviously, you would target the people who are willing to pay, because these are the people who will be buying your product.
It can be stressful to create your first product, especially if you’re new to this and have no idea what you’re doing.
Hopefully these tips will help!
