A friend of mine is a small business owner and has been working 7 days a week in his shop for the past year and a half.
I asked him why he was working so much. And he simply answered that it was because he wanted to make more money.
Now this is a huge mistake that not only business owners make, but Internet marketers too.
If the amount of money we earn was directly proportional to the number of hours we put in, then why is it that people like Donald Trump, Sir Richard Branson and Oprah Winfrey can be billionaires?
Did they hack into the space-time continuum to give themselves more hours?
Of course not. (Though that would be awesome)
We’re all given the 24 hours a day correct?
There’s only so much one person can do. So for marketers like us to really scale up, you have to look into outsourcing.
Personally I’m a huge fan of letting other people do my work for me. Because it gives me more time to create new ideas and brainstorm campaigns, as well as doing the fun things in life.
If I didn’t outsource, I’d be chained to my laptop all day long working on sites, writing up content, struggling with designing graphics and learning how to program.
Yeah, that’s not going to happen.
And you shouldn’t let that happen to you either.
That’s where outsourcing comes into play.
In a nutshell:
If you find that there are a lot of tasks that you don’t like doing or that you just have no idea how to do, then outsourcing those tasks to others is a great way to keep moving forward.
There are loads of outsourcing websites that you can visit where you can hire contractors inexpensively.
The process can be broken down in 4 simple steps:
- Sign up and become a member of an outsourcing site
- Post a job description (web design, content creation, blogging, press release writing, logo design etc.)
- Check back the following day and look through the applicants (you’ll receive a LOT)
- Shortlist the candidates, interview the top ones, pick the best and hire that person
- Manage the contractors as they do your work for you while you spend the rest of your time doing awesome stuff
- When the job is done, or milestones have been met, pay your contractor by sending payment through the secure outsourcing site where you hired them.
There are loads of great outsourcing sites that you can check out.
I’ve had a lot of success with elance.com and odesk.com. And if you’re on a budget you can check out fiverr.com where you can literally get anything done for $5.
In fact, my “Peng Joon” logo and tagline that you see at the top left hand corner of this blog was outsourced to someone on Fiverr.
So if you’re still unsure about outsourcing, my best advice is to just go for it.
How long does it take you to set up a website, put up content, update it every day, create backlinks, drive traffic and build your list?
Now how long do you think it would take to have a small team of people, trained in their field, to do all that for you?
Please keep this question in mind whenever you do ANYTHING: How much is your time worth to you?
