Video marketing is on the rise and if you’re not already creating videos of your own, then you are definitely falling behind the pack.
In general, people are shifting preference from text to audio and video.
According to KISSmetrics, 70% of the top 100 search results are video.
Furthermore, statistics have shown that people are 64-85% more likely to make a purchase after watching a product video.
This is one marketing strategy that you can’t afford to miss out on.
So here are my top 10 tips to create awesome marketing videos:
1. Publish Videos Consistently
Videos help increase business and brand awareness.
And as with everything we do, consistency is key. So take action, record videos and start publishing them on a regular basis.
Don’t over think things. You don’t need a professional camera crew and editing isn’t compulsory.
Original recordings are more genuine and real.
If you’ve ever seen any of my videos, I think it’s pretty apparent that I don’t have a teleprompter or script. I don’t memorize lines or spend hours rehearsing.
I mess up a lot. I stumble on my words. I have a weird accent. And a lot of the time my pronunciation comes out retarded.
But I honestly don’t care. Because imperfections make you who you are.
The most important thing is to convey your targeted message on video.
Start with shorter 1 to 3 minute videos that serve the purpose of educating your audience. As you get the hang of it, you can make longer videos or do further editing.
2. Be Transparent and Authentic
You want to be as clear and genuine as you can be when conveying your message on video.
Engage with your audience and be sincere.
Generate business by communicating vehemently and honestly on the topic in your niche.
Another important component is how you market your videos.
Build a community of subscribers with whom you keep in touch through social channels. They can help promote your content by sharing it on social media, or buying your products and services.
3. Define Your Objectives
It is almost impossible to conduct a successful video marketing campaign without defining main goals.
Your aim can be to increase page views, boost subscriber counts or increase sales. Once you identify your goals you can create promotional campaigns and identify key performance indicators.
Encourage direct customer feedback to map viewership to actual consumer response.
Then support efforts with blog posts, press releases, social media mentions and outreach to influential critics, websites and community members.
4. Focus on The Viewer
Transmit a clear message to the viewer in the first few seconds why they should watch your video. Attract them by showing the benefits they can gain from the video.
Online videos are a great way to engage potential clients but the key to their effectiveness is to provide immediate value to the viewer.
Underline the core message or offer at the beginning of your video and this will lead to an increase in conversions.
Videos that provide viewers with immediate value in the form of specific content or an offer are much more effective.
5. Keep the Core Message Short and Concise
Maintain the length of the video to 3 minutes or less.
Most people in your target audience have a very short attention span.
If you want a message or offer to be heard by a target audience it must be delivered quickly.
Statistics show that video viewership drops off consistently and intensely after 60 seconds.
A beautifully designed and produced online video that’s more than a minute long will most likely not been seen in its entirety by the target audience.
6. You don’t have to be on camera
If you’re really camera-shy, then record your audio and create a slideshow to sync with it.
It’s really very simple.
Download a screen capture software like Camtasia. Create a powerpoint presentation with the information you want to present. Then you only need to record your audio live, speaking naturally and clicking through your slides as you go.
You’ll have a complete a video within minutes.
7. Basic Keyword Strategies
To optimize your videos, keep in mind to use keywords in your the titles, descriptions, and tags.
To help the search engines figure out what your videos are about, embed videos into text pages on your site that are relevant to your video.
Target specific search phrases, not just search words.
8. Upgrade Your Videos to Greater Heights
Create a campaign to get noticed.
Produce a series of videos filled with informative content to achieve higher exposure and remember to publish regularly.
This will allow you to heighten your brand identity as each video is released.
Include a call to action at all times.
Don’t oversee the opportunity to ask your viewers to take action at the end of your video. You can ask them to sign up for your newsletter, leave a comment about your video or visit your blog. Take full advantage of viewers’ responses.
Avoid making a sales pitch.
There is nothing wrong with selling your products or services, but instead it’s better to use your video to define a problem, discuss solutions and support others.
9. Plan Ahead
Before filming, pick a few key message points you wish to convey, and choose a unique structural angle and concept through which to present them.
During recording, begin videos with catchy phrases and speak with different intonations to differentiate both your personality and approach.
Remember you need to make a lasting impression.
Revisit core talking points throughout the video.
Then close the video by including an immediate call to action.
Prior to posting, solicit feedback from viewers to determine how well your message resonates, if learning transfers, and whether your efforts prompt the desired outcome.
10. Measure the Results
Measure the statistics if your video includes links to your website, or a call to action for viewers.
Monitor the increase of sales, website visits or blog subscribers you receive.
Answer any questions that viewers wish to discuss, or ask for more information. Allow them to initiate the conversation with you and continue to communicate with them.
Collect feedback from industry leaders, customers and your own staff.
By observing feedback and monitoring which areas of your video marketing strategy is more effective, your videos will become more engaged with your target customers.
