When the iPhone 7 just came out, I bought it even though I had the iPhone 6s that was still functioning just fine.
The thing is, I didn’t even know what the difference was… but I still bought it.
And to be honest, everything else was just about the same – other than the camera.
The question is – why did I buy it? I want to talk a bit about branding and how you’re perceived in the marketplace.
It is because Apple has created such a strong brand and a loyal audience around them. I want you to ask yourself, how can I apply this?
How are you perceived in your marketplace by your peers, your competitors and other people in the same industry as you?
If you take a look at Apple and compare them to their competitors, chances are their competitors are cheaper or have better specs.
There’s always long queues and people waiting the night before the launch. In fact, when I bought my iPhone 7, they told me it was sold out and I would have to wait for 8 weeks! I didn’t want to wait that long and went ahead to buy the color that was available.
So why do people still buy apple products when they come up with a new product? It’s all because of the branding that they have build.
Now I want you to ask yourself – what can you do right now to that can improve your perceived value in the marketplace?
It doesn’t matter whether you have your own business or whether you don’t have your own business, how can you increase your perceived value in your workplace?
How can you increase your perceived value in your own business so that your peers, your competitors, your clients and your customers will look at you at an elevated angle.
You could create your own video series or this could mean publishing a book or even publishing content on your website so that you are positioned differently in the marketplace.
At the end of the day, building up a strong brand sets your business for success.
