I receive hundreds of emails a day. Unfortunately I just don’t have the capacity to reply every email individually.
However there was one that really caught my attention which basically said:
“I want to make money online but I don’t want to spend any money.”
All I can say is: that is the best way to fail.
If you were to start an offline business, think about all the money you would first have to fork out. Paying for shop rental, renovations, furnishings, stock, delivery, staff… It would likely take you 6 months to a year just to break even.
Yet many people expect to have a free pass to riches in an online business.
It’s the same concept. Albeit a hell of a lot cheaper to get started online. To the point that you don’t need to take a bank loan or deal with any of that kind of crap.
But you still need to purchase a domain and get it hosted, at the very least. Then you need the basics like an autoresponder. And what’s the point of having your business set up if no one knows it exists? That’s where paid traffic comes into play.
Fast. Efficient. Effective. Predictable. Scalable.
That’s where the money is.
You have to be willing to spend a little to make a lot.
You see nothing in life is free. There’s always going to be a cost involved. If it isn’t money, then it’s time.
A lot of people think that their time isn’t worth anything. Well, if that’s how you feel, then it may be time to readjust your blueprint.
I don’t know about you, but my time is valuable.
I’ve mentioned this before but I’m gonna say it again because I can.
I always park valet.
Not because I can afford to, but rather I feel that I can’t afford not to.
Given the choice between paying $10 extra for an instant parking spot and driving around in circles for an hour in a packed lot, I opt to pay extra.
Because an hour of my time is worth more than $10.
Plus I hate it when people enter the cinema late and step on everyone’s feet trying to get to their stupid seat, blocking the screen with their stupidity. I curse them. And I don’t want to be the person that gets cursed.
So going back to the statement of someone who wants to make money online without spending any money…
Look, if you wanted to drive traffic to your offer, you could go on forums and post every day for 6 months to build up solid backlinks, and update Facebook and Twitter to build relationships with prospects and hopefully they would visit your offer.
Or you could pay $50 and receive 200 clicks from your ideal audience by purchasing a solo ad.
Likewise, you could go on Google and read all the free information available on how to make money online. The thing is, the sources are unverified and it could take you weeks, if not months to separate the crap from the good shit.
Instead, you can do what I did.
I found mentors who were making the money I wanted to make. I used them as my role models and followed their lessons then implemented them.
And yes, there was trial and error and I lost money along the way.
But I also made a shitload more to make up for it.
So I just wanna say…
Don’t be such a tight-ass.
As it is, making money online is competitive. By investing in your education and spending some money on stuff like traffic, you’re giving yourself an instant advantage over everyone else.
Know what you’re doing. Track your metrics. And pretty soon you’ll be earning.
