“Peng Joon, what does it take to be successful?”.
I’ve been asked that question so many times that I’ve lost count…
Well, if I were to look at my entire journey, not just for myself but my students from all around the world, I know that it all comes down to these 7 steps.
Here are the 7 simplified steps to becoming successful:
Step 1: Dream big
Everybody wants to have more, be more and do more. It’s crucial to dream big because the people who never get started are the people who don’t dream.
Step 2: Visualize what you want
Think about it and visualize it. Eventually, it’ll turn into a goal – something that’s tangible. It becomes a New Year resolution and that’s how you start doing something about it.
Step 3: Take action
Once you’ve visualized your dream, it’s time to take action and make things happen.
Step 4: Failure and mistakes
Failing and making mistakes. Most people stop at this point because the struggles push them away. To be great at anything, you need to anticipate mistakes and failure and not let them bring you down.
Step 5: Pick yourself up
The ability to pick yourself up and continue with enthusiasm even after each failure.
Step 6: Repeat step 3 to step 5
You might have to repeat step 3 to 5 a few times, maybe a lot of times, it could even be a hundred times until you are able to get through each step successfully.
Step 7: Success
This is the part where you have successfully turned your dream into a reality.
There it is, the 7 simplified steps to becoming successful.
I may not know you personally and I don’t know which step you’re on right now but regardless of what step you’re on right now, hang in there.
Success comes down to your ability to repeat the steps and not give up.
At the end of the day, it really comes down to how well you can handle failure and to pick yourself up and continue with enthusiasm.
